Edward P. Catlin and Norman B. Catlin letters from Nebraska, 1869-1887.

Sixty ALS written by brothers Edward P. and Norman Catlin from Brownville, Aspinwall, and Nemaha City, Nebraska, to friends and family in Harwinton, Connecticut, between 1869 and 1887. The majority of the letters are written to "Dear Friends," with envelopes addressed to Henry Catlin. The chronologically arranged letters describe Edward's experiences boarding with a couple in Brownville, and doing farm work from 1869 until his brother Norman came to Nebraska ca. 1871; Norman's experiences teaching school in Aspinwall; Norman's farming with Edward in Aspinwall from ca. 1875, and his farming with his wife Theresa and family in Nemaha City, beginning ca. 1886, when Edward returned to Connecticut. Subjects of the letters include farming, social and church activities, climate, family life, and news of relatives and mutual friends. With the letters is a general letter of reference for Norman Catlin signed by [Lewis?] Catlin and dated 1869 Sep 14, Harwinton.
